Unlock your heart!

“The Savior has always shown unlimited capacity for compassion. . . . Let us open the door of our hearts, that He—the living example of true compassion—may enter.”
--Thomas S. Monson

Any key will work, but it'd be cool to get a key with a heart shape for the top.

"If I then, your Lord and Master, have washed your feet; ye also ought to wash one another's feet. For I have given you an example, that ye should do as I have done to you."
~John 13: 14-15~

This is my way of washing your feet!

Forgiveness is no piece of cake,
but it’s important.

“Haven’t we all, at one time or another, meekly approached the mercy seat and pleaded for grace? . . . Allow Christ’s Atonement to change and heal your heart. Love one another. Forgive one another.”

- Dieter F. Uchtdorf

Try not to be impatient with your trials.

"Patience means active waiting and enduring. It means staying with something . . . even when the desires of our hearts are delayed. Patience is not simply enduring; it is enduring well!"
-Pres. Uchtdorf

"The power of His Atonement can erase the effects of sin in us. When we repent, His atoning grace justifies and cleanses us."
-D. Todd Christofferson

The gift is erasers.  You can get plain ones or ones with repentance-themed words at the dollar store.

January 2015

Our spiritual growth takes place as we draw close to God through obedience and invite the power of the Savior’s Atonement into our lives.

(I figured the pocket-sized New Testament is a good gift to start out the year when we're studying the New Testament.  And as a reminder to the modern world that print books still exist.)

And Jesus said unto them, I am the bread of life: he that cometh to me shall never hunger; and he that believeth on me shall never thirst.
John 6: 35

Any gift involving bread will work--bread mix, loaf of bread, Twinkies, etc.

And he shall go forth, suffering pains and afflictions and temptations of every kind; and this that the word might be fulfilled which saith he will take upon him the pains and the sicknesses of his people. And he will take upon him death, that he may loose the bands of death which bind his people; and he will take upon him their infirmities, that his bowels may be filled with mercy, according to the flesh, that he may know according to the flesh how to succor his people according to their infirmities.
-Alma 7: 11-12

Jesus Christ is our ADD-vocate with our Heavenly Father.

"It is of great significance to me, that I may at any moment and in any circumstance approach through prayer the throne of grace, that my Heavenly Father will hear my petition, that my Advocate, him who did no sin, whose blood was shed, will plead my cause."
-D. Todd Christofferson

"We are surrounded by those in need. . . . We are the Lord's hands here upon the earth, with the mandate to serve and to lift His children."
-Thomas S. Monson

You may be like a crumpled dollar bill, but you are still worth a full dollar because the Savior redeemed you.

Jesus Christ is the Light of the World

Pretty much anything that is a light will work--flashlight, lightbulb, glow sticks, candle, etc.

The Savior is our shepherd, and you are one of His sheep.

"I am the good shepherd, and I know my sheep. . . . And I lay down my life for the sheep." -John 10: 14-15

"How grateful we should be that a wise Creator fashioned an earth and placed us here . . . that we might experience a time of testing, an opportunity to prove ourselves in order to qualify for all that God has prepared for us to receive." -Thomas S. Monson

My initial plan was to get something "earth"-related, such as a world-shaped toy or a map of the world. But I couldn't find anything.  Then I thought of getting some clay or something and adding a thought about creating.

Then I remembered what time of year it is and decided to take advantage of it.  Good thing the quote has the word "grateful" in it!
